As the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana's death approaches, a few documentaries have come out chronicling the People's Princess and her often turbulent life. The latest, National Geographic's Diana: In Her Own Words, takes audio clips from a series of interviews Diana conducted for a book Andrew Morton was writing in 1991. The most recent revelation to come out of the documentary takes aim at Diana's marriage to Prince Charles-specifically the wedding and how she felt even before they said "I do."

In the documentary, which aired last night, Princess Diana is said to almost have called off the royal wedding of the century. In her own words, Diana discusses how she felt right after becoming engaged to Prince Charles. “I went upstairs, had lunch with my sisters who were there, and I said, 'I can't marry him. I can't do this. This is absolutely unbelievable.' And they were wonderful and said, 'Well, bad luck, Duch. Your face is on the tea towel, so you're too late to chicken out,'” Diana revealed.

The royal couple was married in 1981, with over 750 million people all over the world tuning in for the first televised royal wedding, and with all the cameras pointed at her, and her now iconic wedding dress, it's no wonder the princess described that day as "the worst day of my life."

Relief didn't come for Diana after the pomp and circumstance of the world's most famous wedding (until then). “I remember crying my heart out on my honeymoon,” she said in the tapes. This is not the first time Charles and Diana's Balmoral honeymoon has come into question. Earlier this year, a series of Diana's letters was obtained by Vanity Fair, and in them she suggested she just used her honeymoon to catch up on sleep.
